LA TRAVIATA – State Opera House and Ballet in Tbilisi – 2017

New staging at the State Opera House and Ballet in Tbilisi curated by Enrico Fontana de Rangoni for Nausica Opera International, in charge of supplies, setdesign and production services from the State Theater of Georgia.

Giuseppe Verdi created his immortal opera according to La Dame aux Camélias, a novel by Alexandre Dumas, fils. It is noteworthy that after listening to La traviata, Alexandre Dumas, fils said: “After fifty years no one would remember my La Dame aux Camélias but Verdi has immortalized her. La traviata was premiered on March 6, 1853 in Teatro la Fenice di Venezia, and on the stage of  the Tbilisi Opera Theater La traviata was premiered on 30 November 1859.

The premiere of La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi will be held on November 18 at 20:00, at the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theater. La traviata’s premiere performances will also be held on 19, 23, 24 and 30 November.

Music director and conductor –  Zaza Azmaiparashvili, Director Laurent Gerber (Switzerland / Italy), scenographer – Massimo Bellando Randone (Italy), costume designer – Ester Martin (Spain), choreographer –  Nina Ananiashvili.
 On November 18, at the premiere of La Traviata the main parts will be performed by: Salome Jikia (Violetta Valéry), Otar Jorjikia (Alfredo Germont), Sulkhan Gvelesiani (Giorgio Germont), Nino Zakaidze (Flora Bervoix), Manana Iordanishvili (Annina, Violetta’s maid), Tamaz Saginadze (Gastone, the Viscount de Letorières), Irakli Mujiri (Baron Douphol), Giorgi Chelidze (Marquis d’Obigny), Levan Makaridze (Dr. Grenvil), Paata Sukhitashvili (Giuseppe,Violetta’s servant), Temur Akhobadze (Commissioner), and the Orchestra and Chorus of the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre under the baton of  Maestro Zaza Azmaiparashvili.

Different casts of the soloists and interns of the Tbilisi Opera House will sing in the performances on November 19, 23, 24 and 30 under the baton of Maestro Azmaiparashvili, as well we invited conductors Walter Attanasi and Alberto Veronsi.
